About Us

Taakulo Somali Community, widely known by the acronym “TAAKULO,” is a dynamic non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan organization. Established in 2007, TAAKULO is headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland, with regional offices across Somaliland, Somalia, and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The name "Taakulo" means "helping" or "aiding" in Somali language, reflecting our core mission of supporting disadvantaged communities.

TAAKULO is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations throughout Somalia, Somaliland and Somali regional state of Ethiopia by providing emergency relief, promoting sustainable development, building resilience, and encouraging local community engagement. Our programs are designed to foster self-reliance while preserving the dignity of those we serve.

The organization was founded in response to the immense challenges facing the Somali community—drought, famine, war, and conflict have severely impacted their livelihoods and economies. Our projects are community-driven, ensuring that beneficiaries actively participate in the planning process to address their specific needs.  areas:
